INTERNSHIPS
We accept student interns, to work with and provide support to our organization with research and writing projects, communications and marketing efforts, lobbying and grant writing/fundraising related to our policy and legislative advocacy efforts. All interns must undergo an interview and have a firm time commitment to the Coalition. As such, you should carry yourself in a professional manner at all times and your work be of the highest quality.
How To Apply
Thank you for your interest in becoming a student intern advocate with the Virginia Coalition Against Human Trafficking. Prior to any interview being scheduled, please submit a cover letter along with your resume, recent college transcript (unofficial) along with a brief writing sample from a research paper related to a social justice issue preferably related to human trafficking although the latter is not required for consideration. (The Coalition will consider internship applications from dual enrollment students who are on the honor roll at both their high school and college programs.)
If your interest is in helping with communications and/or marketing efforts you may submit samples of press releases, opinion letters, letters to the editor, public service announcements and/or social media marketing campaign plans you have developed in lieu of the research paper.
Please also provide three-character references including their email and phone number. The references should include at least one academic reference and one employment/volunteer reference. References will not be contacted until an interview is completed.
We will contact you by phone or email to schedule a zoom interview if we are interested in considering you for an internship.
If you are seeking academic credit for your internship experience, please let us know that in your cover letter. If accepted for an internship it will be the student’s responsibility to provide the Coalition with any paperwork that the Coalition must complete in order to facilitate academic credit being obtained.
The requested materials may be emailed to info@vcaht.org or mailed to the Virginia Coalition Against Human Trafficking, P.O. Box 1295, Chesapeake, VA 23327. The Coalition endeavors to provide responses to all applicants within 7 to 10 business days of receipt. Please allow additional time when mailing your materials to us.
