Volunteer

While we welcome all interested in participating and partnering in the Coalition’s mission, we have found by experience that the most effective partners are those willing to invest both their time and their money in these efforts. Accordingly, the Coalition does not accept volunteers but encourages those interested in being part of the vision and mission to become members.

Why members and not volunteers? Because it is your way of saying to those who have been victimized, “we are willing to put our money where our mouth is regarding removing barriers that are keeping survivors stuck and prosecuting those who have exploited them in addition to giving of our time, efforts, and/or experience and expertise to this effort”. However, recognizing that for many funds are tight, we keep our annual membership fees low so that no one is precluded from becoming a member because of finances. For survivors of human trafficking, we also provide a waiver of the fee if it would prove a hardship to you. To learn more and apply for membership please click here.

In addition, since we are a nonprofit lobbying organization we are generally not able to tap into the grant funding opportunities that are available to nonprofit organizations that fall under traditional nonprofit 501(c)(3) parameters. Accordingly, your membership fee provides the much-needed funds to compensate survivors for their efforts on behalf of the Coalition and help us pay for the other marketing and media efforts that are needed to reach the public and alert them to the varying lobbying and policy change efforts which need their support. Finally, should your schedule and/or your commitments no longer allow you to give of your time and efforts, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your membership fee is helping to support the Coalition efforts on behalf of survivors nonetheless. So please become a member today because victims aren’t criminals and shouldn’t be treated as if they are.
